Dal Khalsa Australia is the official Australian chapter of Dal Khalsa β€” a Sikh political organisation established on 6 August 1978. We advocate for the rights of Sikhs in Australia and around the world, standing united in support of the democratic movement for Sikh self-determination.

Based in Australia, our chapter gives voice to the Australian Sikh community on the global stage through peaceful, lawful, and democratic means.

1947
Partition of India β€” Sikhs were promised autonomy that was never delivered by the new Indian state.
1978
Dal Khalsa founded on 6 August in Amritsar by Gajinder Singh to advocate for Sikh rights and self-determination.
1984
Operation Blue Star β€” Indian Army stormed the Golden Temple. November anti-Sikh pogroms killed thousands across India.
1986
Khalistan Declaration issued from Akal Takht β€” the Sikh seat of temporal authority in Amritsar.
Today
Global Sikh diaspora continues the democratic movement. Dal Khalsa Australia carries the mission forward.
